Well, in the pubs, I aimed at girls who are either in pairs or alone.
I'm still pretty new to this so any number more than 2 spooks me out.
So you gotta find your target, then follow the 3 sec rule. Means that once you spot em, go approach in 3 sec. The more you think about your chances, the more cold feet you get. Trust me, I was the chicken shit like any geek or nerd was till recently.
So for this particular time, I approached this girl who was sitting near the corner. She was alone when I spotted her, playing with her drink, looked like soft drink of some sort. Went straight to her empty handed.
Me: "Hi, a question for you."
Girl: "Yes?"
Me: "What drink are you having? Cos the beer here is terrible and you seem like you're enjoying your drink ... "
Girl: "Oh, tequila"
Me: "Nice, I'll be right back"
Walks over to bar counter, orders a bourbon anyway. Walks back to girl.
Me: "Thanx for your help." Takes a sip. "This does taste better. Say, have you been here before? I've not seen you around."
*Make small talk for duration of drink ... take no more than 10-15min.
Tell her you are leaving, attempt to number-close her.
Well thats it. Thats pretty much how I got the number.
Till this part I'm still pretty confident, but still haven gotten so good that I can fcuk-close her on the next date.
Still lots more skill to brush up on I guess. But this boosts up my confidence a lot. I'm feeling that the more I do approaches, the better I get at it.

Gonna try those contacts and use different fishing techniques for comparison. Will post further if anyone interested in this.
